Allow yourself to navigate life according to your own ideal. Do what you want to do even at the most fundamental levels providing the harm principle is not broken along this necessary endeavour. If you want to be idle, then be idle. If you want to adopt an eccentric style of dress, then do so. If you want to experience more tranquillity and solitude, then proceed. If you want to make use of an expansive vocabulary, then one shall not fear speaking. If you want to withdraw from pop culture bandwagons, then withdraw. And when conformists criticise you for this, attempt to shun you and seek to bully you, one need not bother with their bias. Live according to your own terms, whilst conformists live the life that everyone else wants them to live. The former is a more exemplary option.

The Superficiality of the Social Hierarchy
It’s disconcerting to observe how rapidly a person’s behaviour alters in the presence of celebrities, politicians, and the like. These individuals merely possess a high status due to their popularity and/or financial superiority over those around them, leading to a starstruck response. The glorification of an immortal subject is problematic enough, but it becomes even…
On Conscription
I began the recruitment process to join the Royal Navy in 2017, after my time at undergraduate study. Following the second part of the medical, I failed the eye test due to a lifelong deformity in my left eye (esotropia). Many years later, my views on life, society and work have changed and, one might…
The Illusion of Adulthood
By the time people have surpassed their mid-teens, they have convinced themselves that they’ve crossed into adulthood. This belief is fuelled by reaching certain milestones—buying a car, getting a job, or losing their virginity. Society seduces us into believing that these markers equate to maturity, yet they’re just empty symbols that barely scratch the surface…
On the Modern Use of Ancient Philosophy
Ancient philosophical schools that I find more appealing are ones that assess ethics (axiology). Much of what is professed on grounds of axiology in the schools of Stoicism and Cynicism, for example, can be of use regardless of the age of these philosophies. In particular, when one explores the life of Diogenes, one can see…
Agree to Disagree
People often think it’s acceptable to either remain silent or, even worse, pretend to agree with someone, only to later openly disagree and admit their dishonesty. This behaviour, driven by the need to maintain social harmony and the fear of causing offense, is problematic. It is unwise to be silent or pretend to agree with…

Additionally, I have for a long-time experienced various troubles such as certain anxiety disorders and depression as well as misfortunes and afflictions during parts of my upbringing through to early…
